A guide to help you select your Medicare prescription drug coverage

Medicare prescription drug coverage (Medicare Part D) is insurance that helps pay for brand-name and generic prescription drugs at participating pharmacies. Everyone with Medicare is eligible for this coverage, but as with Medicare Part B, you must enroll.
Note: You do not need to enroll in Medicare Part D if you are able to maintain your WEA Trust prescription drug coverage.
Which drug coverage is best for you?
The new Medicare drug program provides you with two options:
Option 1: You can sign up for a Medicare prescription drug plan. Learn more about Medicare prescription drug plans.
Option 2: You can enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan.

What if I waive coverage?
Important dates for Medicare Part D
November 15 to December 31 of each year (open enrollment): Next opportunity to enroll for Medicare-eligible individuals who missed their initial enrollment period. Coverage for people who enroll during this period becomes effective January 1 of the following year.
Open enrollment is an opportunity to re-evaluate your Medicare Part D coverage for the following year. You can complete the Medicare Prescription Drug Plan Finder at medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE, push "0", and ask their customer service representative to complete the Drug Plan Finder for you. |
