| Anti-bullying bill becomes law |
Governor Doyle signs anti-bullying bill into lawMay 14, 2010
As a not-for-profit company that provides health insurance to Wisconsin school districts, the WEA Trust is deeply committed to school environments that are safe and healthy. That’s why we joined with the Department of Public Instruction this year to help fund the development, printing, and distribution of anti-bullying curriculum to public grade schools and middle schools with no cost to the district.
One in ten children state that they’ve been the victim of bullying. This is clearly a mental and physical health issue that intrudes into the education sphere. Children learn better in a safe, healthy environment. Likewise, our school teachers and staff are far more effective when our children can focus on learning.
We are proud to be part of a coalition consisting of groups that represent children, mental health, and law enforcement that helped bring this issue to light and make our schools safer.
