| Schools Excited About the Movin' and Munchin' Program |
January 29, 2010
School districts are getting very excited about the Movin' and Munchin' Schools program and are promoting it in their communities and in their schools. Movin' and Munchin' events feature 3-time Olympians Casey FitzRandolph and Suzy Favor Hamilton. Fliers, posters, and Web site promotion are just a few of the ways the schools are working to promote their events. Most recently the Johnson Creek School District posted a link on their Web site promoting their upcoming Movin' and Munchin' event that will take place April 7, 2010 in front of an expected crowd of 800 kids, staff and community members.
The Movin’ and Munchin’ Schools program is administered through the Department of Public Instruction and sponsored by the WEA Trust (a not-for-profit group health insurer that insures many Wisconsin public school employees). The program encourages kids, their families, and public school employees to eat healthy and have regular physical activity through the program offered in their local schools. Schools that participate in the Movin’ and Munchin’ program may receive up to $1,000 in awards.
